A Presentation on Near Death Experiences

Robert Cornett will present key findings of major researchers in the field of near death experiences. This subject has been getting a good deal of media attention in recent years as more and more people are sharing their stories about coming close to death during a serious accident or medical crisis, being declared clinically dead and then surviving. They describe leaving their bodies and traveling through a tunnel, meeting light beings or dead relatives and having profound spiritual experiences that change their lives.
The presentation will include an overview of the major research in the field since 1975; common characteristics and themes in near death experiences; the phenomenon of shared death experiences with family members at the bedside of a dying person; and near death awareness in terminally ill patients. A Q&A discussion will follow.

About Robert
Robert Cornett is Woodstock resident, an actor, playwright and death educator. He holds a master’s degree from Harvard Divinity School and is a member of IANDS (The international Association of Near Death Studies). He has done extensive study of religious conceptions of the afterlife and the literature of post-mortem experience and communication. He is a certified End of Life Doula working with hospice patients and their families in the Hudson Valley. He has also conceived and acted in a play based on near death experiences.
