“It’s A Wrap”- Dark Comedy Looks at Autonomy, Love and Death with Dignity.
$14.50 general admission/ $12.50 seniors/ $10.50 members
Through candid storytelling and dark comedy, It’s A Wrap explores one woman’s final decision to end her life on her own terms and in doing so, offers an intimate reflection around saying goodbye. The film invites audiences to laugh, cry, and reflect on the complexities of being human.
At the center of the documentary is Grandma Haya, a fiercely independent woman battling progressive terminal cancer. When swallowing becomes increasingly difficult, Haya decides to stop taking her medication and ceases eating and drinking.
Despite emotional pleas from friends and family, she remains resolute, insisting they all put aside their objections to attend her farewell party. The film masterfully captures the duality of life and death—where sorrow is tempered with humor, and celebration coexists with loss.
It’s A Wrap addresses important themes of self-determination and the right to make one’s own end-of-life decisions. It offers a profound argument for death with dignity, showing that having control over how we say goodbye allows individuals to face death with peace rather than fear.
At its heart, the story is a poignant reminder that how we choose to say goodbye is as important as how we choose to live. Watch Trailer
